How to choose your tattoo needles?

The choice between traditional needles and tattoo cartridges depends on your equipment and the way you work.
If you use a coil machine,  traditional needles will be perfect for you. If you want to save time and increase efficiency, tattoo cartridgescartridges, which are interchangeable and ideal for both rotary and cordless machines, are the preferred choice. For handpoke enthusiasts, you can use either traditional needles or cartridges, depending on the type of pen you use. needle-holder pen used. What are the different types of tattoo needles?

There are three types of needles:

  • Liners: these are used for fine, precise lines, thanks to their clustered tip that concentrates the ink. The more needles you use, the thicker the line.
  • Shaders: these are used for shading and gradients, as the needles are more widely spaced and diffuse the ink more gently.
  • Flats: used for solid color fills. They come in a variety of shapes, including magnums, flats and dual stacks.

What are the different characteristics of a tattoo needle?

The criteria to consider when choosing your needles are..:

  • Number of needles: determines the fineness and thickness of the strokes.
  • Needle diameter: impacts precision and ink flow.
  • The taper : length of the point, influencing penetration depth.

These criteria will define the fineness of your lines and the size of the area worked in one pass.
